Experience Shirodhara

Shiro in Sanskrit means head or forehead region and dhara means continuous flow; shirodhara thus translates to a continuous flow of herb-infused oil on the forehead and is a classic Ayurvedic body treatment. The warm oil is streamed on the forehead through a copper vessel from the right to the left temple for a few minutes to stimulate forehead nerve nodes and balance the pituitary and pineal glands. After several minutes, the stream is set to the middle of the forehead where it flows continuously for the duration of the treatment. This treatment ends with a nice head and scalp massage. Since the shirodhara oil is custom-made and very beneficial for the scalp and hair, it is recommended to leave it in for as long as possible after the service, ideally between 2 hours to overnight.

Shirodhara helps reduce anxiety, relieves insomnia & improves sleep quality, and manages symptoms related to hypertension, migraine headaches, depression, and more. It is one of the best treatments to pacify the vata dosha. The shirodhara treatment is also said to awaken one's intuition. The point between the eyebrows is known in many spiritual traditions as the "third eye." Buddhists consider the third eye to be the seat of spiritual awakening; the Taoists think of it as the "heavenly eye"; and Hindus call it the sixth chakra, the home of intuition. As the third eye opens, life force (or prana, as we call it in Sanskrit) begins to flow freely. As the prana flows throughout the energy channels, these channels are cleaned and blockages are cleared.
